Auto Spark Plugs

Spark plug wires are responsible for the transmission of energy from the car battery to the spark plug itself, which then fires up the fuel contained within the motor's moving parts (pistons and cylinders) to power combustion. They are used exclusively in petroleum engines, since diesel engines use charged parts known as glow plugs to start a different engine operating process known as compression.

The Function of Spark Plug Wires

These pieces of equipment are made of insulated, industrial-grade rubber that safely conducts power from its source to its destination. They are in constant contact with the hottest parts of the working engine, and are thus outfitted with a jacket capable of withstanding extremely high temperatures. However, over time, the wires' constant exposure to extremely hot temperatures causes this jacket to grow brittle, to crack and to peel away. When this happens, the wires will need replacement. If they deteriorate to the point where they can't function properly, engine misfiring will often result. Most spark plug wires are also connected to the actual spark plugs with a rubber bootie, which itself can easily become loose or damaged. Broken boots and brittle, scorched insulation jackets are the two most common reasons these wires need to be replaced.

AutoParts123 stocks an excellent selection of auto components of all shapes and sizes and offers them for sale to consumers at prices that are far lower than the manufacturers' list prices. The company also has a comprehensive inventory of original equipment manufacturer (OEM) parts for sale, for drivers who prefer to replace broken components with factory originals.
